Uplifting Caregivers

Caregivers come in many forms – family members, friends, healthcare providers, first responders…even pets. Taking care of others is profoundly meaningful but can be emotionally and physically tiring. Caregivers need care, too. Kind words can have a big impact, as can gifts of appreciation and support.

Caregiver Care Bags Project

Think with Heart collaborates with local medical offices and hospitals to provide care bags for caregivers.

Caregivers who are taking care of loved ones who are seriously ill and/or advocating for loved ones in the hospital are often stressed and exhausted. They are also among the strongest and most courageous. No one can take away the stress, worry and emotional pain from a caregiver, but we can extend kindness, letting caregivers know they aren’t alone. The caregiver care bags include helpful books on caregiving as well as small gifts symbolizing strength and courage. “There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver.”

The Richmond Fisher House Kindness Project

Think with Heart collaborates with the Richmond Fisher House Foundation to uplift the caregivers staying in their houses.

As shared on the website, the Richmond Fisher House was a gift to the Veteran’s Administration through the generosity of Fisher House Foundation. It serves as a home away from home for the families of veterans receiving care at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System hospital. The Fisher House provides cost-free living quarters for patient families and provides an immeasurable benefit to patient care, in addition to the care and well-being of our veterans’ family members.

WAYS TO SUPPORT FISHER HOUSE CAREGIVERS

Donate. The Fisher House has a common kitchen space that veteran family members share during their stay. Help us stock the kitchen with canned goods, frozen treats, paper products and other items on Fisher House’s “wish list” to uplift the families of veterans receiving care. Contribute towards these items by clicking here. Please enter in the “comments” section that you would like your contribution to go towards the Fisher House project.

Partner. Are you a Richmond caterer, specialty shop or restaurant owner interested in collaborating? Email info@thinkwithheart.org to connect.

Spread the Word. If you’re not able to donate funds, please help get the word out about this community project. Veterans and their families will thank you.
